Johann Sebastian Bach
Magnificat
BWV 243
Bach's Magnificat in D major (BWV 243) is a setting of the biblical canticle of the Virgin Mary. Composed in 1723 and revised around 1733, it is scored for five vocal soloists, five-part choir, and orchestra. Its twelve movements range from jubilant choruses to intimate arias, making it one of Bach's most concentrated and brilliant sacred works.
