César Franck

Panis Angelicus

Latin1872

Franck's "Panis Angelicus" (Bread of Angels) is extracted from his Mass Op. 12. Originally composed for solo tenor with organ, harp, cello, and double bass, it has been arranged in countless versions for solo voice, choir, and various instrumentations. Its soaring melody and simple, devotional text have made it a staple of sacred music programmes.
